The Weather's Going to Reach 106 Degrees by Monday...

Hey everyone! Well, it has been over a month so we've finally decided it is time to update the blog! Clark finished up his first semester as a nursing student May 9th and has had a whole 12 days off from school...I think these days off have really helped him recooperate from the semester and the stress of busy work (because that is nursing school in a nut shell). This past week we spent the 12th through the morning of the 16th in Vegas. We found super cheap airfare on Southwest and decided to make a getaway to see Mom and Dad Tobler. We both had SO much fun! It was relaxing but at the same time we accomplished a lot. We Spent Tuesday hiking around Valley of Fire which is just east of Vegas. Wednesday we were going to hike up Mount Charleston and camp but we had to modify our plans a bit. On the first drive up the mountain the Caddy started to overheat we just didn't think it would make it all the way up. So, to play it safe, we coasted back down to the house and drove up with Dad Tobler in the Corolla. Originally he was going to meet us up there after work but this worked out much better. We hiked a trail called Cathedral Rock and took lots of fun pictures. It was so pretty and green and it made me miss the Northwest. After our hike (which took longer than necessary because we had to take advantage of all the photo ops, of course!) we headed down to a camp site and set up camp to simulate an authentic camping experience minus the tent. The fire was started and we all sat around the blaze chatting and eating junk food. Clark had earlier complained of not having enough buns for the sausage dogs (8 in one pack, I believe), however, when we left there were still three left over... we also had cinnamon rolls (which I have got to stop requesting when I come to Vegas), chips and hamburger jerky. I suppose if we decided to take a week off from our protein diet we might as well eat everything we aren't supposed to! Well worth it, too. Once it got too chilly we put out the fire, cleaned up and headed home.

Our last full day in Vegas, Thursday, we spent shopping at DI, Home Goods and Kohl's. I couldn't believe how many good deals we found and I think we built up a pretty good wardrobe for Clark. He also has new workout shirts so he can throw the shirts with bilateral armpit holes out! Later that day we all drove to the Las Vegas Temple to do baptisms, and afterwards hit up In and Out. All in all, this was such a fun and productive trip and we can't wait to do it again!
